A Sarasota man is facing a felony charge, after deputies say he pointed a laser at their helicopter.
It happened around 11:45 last night on Siesta Beach.
Deputies say they responded to call that several hundred young people were partying on the beach.
At one point, the Sheriff's Office brought in it's helicopter with an infrared camera.
They say someone with a laser then pointed it into the cockpit.
The pilot was able to recognize the person and notified deputies on the ground.
They arrested 20 year old Castaneda Aroldo and charged him with "misuse of a laser lighting device."
That's a third degree felony.
If he's convicted, he faces up to 5 years in prison.
