Hundreds of people are spending their Saturday at the Florida State Fairgrounds to take advantage of free dental care.
The Florida Dental Association organized the two day Mission of Mercy clinic that offers free cleanings, fillings, extractions and surgery. Hundreds of dentists and hygienists are volunteering their time to help take care of people who otherwise cannot afford to take care of their teeth.
The response has been overwhelming. On Friday, more than 800 people received treatment. Some who line up were turned away, and asked to come back Saturday because there just wasn't enough time to get to everyone. Patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis. The dentists say they'll treat as many people as possible.
No proof of income is required.
