Several people injured in school bus accident

Several students had minor injuries after an accident involving the school bus they were on, FOX 13 has learned.

The crash happened at Progress Village Blvd. and U.S. Highway 301.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, seven students from Spoto High School were taken to Brandon Hospital. Five went with their parents with minor injuries; two were taken by ambulance.

Another student went to UC-Fletcher with a parent, the sheriff's office said.

The collision was between the bus and two other cars. The driver of one of the cars was also taken to the hospital. There is no word yet on that driver's condition.

Only one eastbound lane of Progress Village Blvd. is open, the sheriff's office says.
