Gov. Rick Scott is in Tampa on Wednesday visiting Thomas Jefferson High School, where he's discussing tuition costs and college affordability.
The governor recently said he's backing a bill that would allow qualify Florida students to pay in-state college tuition – even if they're in the country illegally.
The bill would cover all Florida youth who attend at least three years of high school in-state and apply for college within two years of graduation, regardless of their immigration status.
Just a couple of years ago, Scott took a hardline on immigration issues and was against a proposal like this.
Many political experts say the governor is positioning himself for re-election.
