Police standoff ends with one arrest in Kenneth City

Posted: Updated:

A 12 hour standoff between a convicted felon and the SWAT team ends peacefully in Kenneth City.

Police arrested 31-year-old Justin Peters just before noon Sunday.

Investigators say Peters barricaded himself inside a home in the 4800 block of 56th Way late Saturday night.

Officers were called out to the home after two men came to the police department saying Peters was drunk and pointed a shotgun at them.

After several hours, the SWAT team entered the home and arrested Peters without incident.

He was taken to Pinellas County Jail charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Peters was also convicted in 2011 for possession of meth.
