Alleged victim plans to sue video voyeur

TAMPA (FOX 13) -

The man accused of taking hundreds of illicit videos of female co-workers will face a civil suit against one woman who claims to be a victim of video voyeurism.

Her attorneys plan to file it Monday.

James Stanton, 39, the former Chief Financial Officer at MaintenX, is charged with 123 counts of video voyeurism dating back to 2010. He's accused of setting up a camera in the bathroom and shower area at the company.

Investigators said there are as many as 200 total videos, but they haven't been able to identify the other victims.

Authorities arrested him Friday after getting a tip from Jeremy Lenkowski, a former IT employee at Maintenx.

During a press conference Saturday afternoon, Lenkowski's attorney's, who also represent the woman suing the company and Stanton, said they may sue Maintenx on Lenkowski's behalf as well.

They explained, Lenkowski found the videos on Stanton's computer in 2010 while performing maintenance.

"He went straight to the comptroller, the comptroller set up a lunch with the president and vice president at which time Jeremy brought this to their attention directly, and they promised to stop," Lenkowski's attorney Thomas Harmon said. "Jeremy trusted them. He went back to work, and it did not stop."

Lenkowski left the company months later.

March 2013 - three years after Lenkowski's found the videos - he continued to contact female employees of MaintenX about the videos and was hit with a cease and desist letter from company attorneys.

It reads, "it has come to the attention of the Company that you have made accusations about the Company which are false and slanderous."

Investigators identified Stanton as the CFO at the time of his arrest, but he has since been let go.

Stanton appeared before a judge Saturday morning, and he remains in the Hillsborough County Jail on a $619,000 bond.
