Dogs are on death row and need your help

BRADENTON (FOX 13) -

The Manatee County Animal Shelter has been stretched to its capacity after taking in several dogs seized from a troubled animal sanctuary.

Several puppies that were taken during a raid at Napier's Log Cabin Horse and Animal Sanctuary are being held at the shelter.

Those puppies are evidence in the investigation of the sanctuary, so they will not immediately be put down.

But that means several other, adoptable animals are headed to euthanasia sooner than they otherwise would be.

The shelter will have to put several animals down if no one adopts them by 5 p.m. tomorrow (Monday).

Investigators say the animals from the Napier's Sanctuary were living in filthy conditions. Most of them were taken to the Manatee County Animal Services, where literally dozens and dozens of animals are awaiting adoption.

(CORRECTION: A previous version of the story said the seized animals were scheduled to be put down.)
