The Indiana football player who nearly drowned Monday in a rip current is improving.

His family says he's been brought out of sedation.

Isaac Griffith is now awake and breathing on his own.

He was pulled under by a rip tide while swimming at Siesta Key Beach with friends during his spring break.

Griffith is expected to make a full recovery.
