ACWORTH, Ga. -

A train accident near Downtown Acworth forced traffic to be redirected Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the accident happened on Northside Drive at Hillside Drive when a "crew cab hauling truck" got stuck on the train tracks.

Police got a call about the accident around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

Acworth Police Chief Captain. Cheatham said "a large truck pulling a large furniture trailer got stuck on the railroad tracks." According to Cheatham, a CSX train struck the trailer caused furniture to be strewn all around the area.

As a result of the accident, the train tracks were damaged and traffic was impacted until the train was moved. Lemon Street at Main Street had been closed as a result of the incident.

The driver of the truck, Richard A. Brown, was cited for failure to obey railroad grade crossing.

No injuries were reported.
