CLEARWATER (FOX 13) -

A Clearwater family got a rude awakening early Tuesday morning when a tree came crashing down on top of their mobile home.

"All we heard was a big thump in our trailer, and then we wake up, see a tree in our trailer," Jerry Mabes said. "What else is going to happen to us?"

The family already has a lot on their plate. Both daughters have medical problems; one requires medication, which Jerry has to go get with his bicycle since he's not allowed to drive.

The bike is now too damaged to ride.

"No, you can't ride it 'cause the wheel is all bent up," he said.

But there is good news to report: Albert and Anita Williams saw Mabes' story on Good Day Tampa Bay. They came to the house and donated two bikes.

"Try to do what you can to give back to somebody," Albert Williams said.

As for the tree, it actually is on another plot of land that is owned by Assurant Specialty Property. They tell FOX 13 that it's too early to see if it falls under their claim criteria.
