Woodstock warns of possible water discoloration

Posted: Updated:

Residents in Woodstock may notice a slight change in the color of the water coming out of the tap for the next month and a half as the city performs fire hydrant maintenance.

The City of Woodstock advises that the discolored water is not harmful, but may stain light-colored clothing. Officials say the discoloration is due to sediment that is knocked loose or stirred up during the testing of the hydrants.

Crews will be flushing the system until it is cleared up, but smaller lines near homes might still be affected. They advise if the water is discolored or cloudy, that residents should run their faucets until it is once again clear.

The testing will be conducted from March 17 until the end of April.
