Police say they have the killer behind bars from a murder back on March 8.
Jimmy Jermaine Brown, 29, turned himself into police late Tuesday night.
Lakeland police say it was a botched robbery at a house commonly used for buying and selling drugs. Witnesses were at that house minutes earlier and heard gunshots.
After they left, police say, the witnesses saw Brown running and chased him to find out what happened.
Brown faces murder and armed robbery charges, as well as witness tampering.
"The suspect robbed the victim of the drugs -- of the cocaine, marijuana and crack cocaine -- and offered the witness money, basically to keep quiet," Lakeland police assistant chief Mike Link told FOX 13 News.
Debora Howard made the gruesome discovery of her nephew. Gregory Ross Junior, 19, was shot several times in the head and chest.
"He took a piece of my heart," she told with FOX 13 only a few hours after learning police made an arrest in her nephew's murder. "He took my nephew's life, now his needs to be taken. He needs to be taken away and go six feet under…where we have to lay my nephew."
Just a couple of weeks ago, another teenager was killed in northwest Lakeland. Police believe that was a result of gang violence.
But Police believe Ross's murder is a robbery that turned deadly.
"My nephew was not in a gang. Was not in a gang! I want to make that clear," Howard added.
