$3,000 Reward Posted In Deadly Delco Hit-And-Run

Posted: Updated:

Collingdale police and business owners are willing to pay-up if you have any information that can help them catch the driver in a deadly hit-and-run.

They're now offering a $3,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the driver who allegedly killed 58-year-old Tim McCaughan, then drove off.

McCaughan died walking across Clifton Avenue near Spruce Street on Friday night.

Investigators say they're looking for a light-colored, early-2000s model Chevy Suburban or Yukon.

Police claim the driver got out of the car, looked at McCaughen and said "Oh -----," before driving away. A witness then called 9-1-1 immediately.

The witness described the driver as a young black or Hispanic male, approximately 6 feet tall, with short curly hair and a beard, and they have released a sketch.

On Tuesday, police said citizens and business owners had pledged money toward a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction.

By Thursday, the amount had grown by another $1,000.

Police say they've gotten more than 50 leads, but the driver is still out there. They say false rumors have been circulating of an arrest, but none has been made, and information on any arrest will be provided as soon as it happens.

"It wasn't a dog that he hit it was a man. He was a human being," Collingdale Police Chief Robert Adams said earlier in the week. "The citizens of this town -- I've been here for 35 years -- won't stand for this. This is cold-blooded murder,"

The victim's brother, Chris McCaughen is begging the killer to come forward.

"He was getting ready to be a grandfather anyway; his daughter did three tours in Iraq and a tour in Afghanistan," said McCaughen.

If you have any information about this story, you are asked to contact Collingdale Police at 610-586-0502.

Services for Timothy J McCaughan will be on Monday, March 17 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. 1028 School Street, Sharon Hill, PA 19079. Viewing from 9:30 am to 11 am, Mass at 11am. After the mass the burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem PA, 19020
