St. Petersburg celebrated 100 years of spring training baseball Sunday, and it couldn't have been a more perfect day.
The city marks its baseball Centennial with an 8-game international baseball series at Al Lang Stadium.
The Canadian Junior National team took on the pros, starting Sunday afternoon with the Phillies.
St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman threw out the ceremonial first pitch and, yes, he made it over the plate.
"Here we are and the sun is shining once again on this great city," Kriseman said. "We're celebrating 100 years of spring baseball here in St. Petersburg starting back in 1914 with the St. Louis Browns. You know there isn't a better place to watch a baseball game than right here in St. Petersburg with this view, this kind of weather. We love having baseball here."
Kriseman encouraged people to come to St. Pete to catch a game before spring training ends.
