The St. Petersburg City Council has voted to take down all red-light cameras by the end of the year.
The city plans to remove the cameras no later than Sept. 30. Mayor Rick Kriseman said they brought in less cash than anticipated.
Most of the money went to the state and the camera company. There have been fewer crashes and citations since the cameras were installed.
Kriseman said the city will be watching to see if the number of crashes increase once the cameras are gone.
