Parents picking up students at Sugg Middle School in Bradenton went home with some disturbing news.
Bradenton Police are investigating accusations that a gym coach inappropriately touched two students.
"It concerns me because I hope he doesn't do my child like that," said Deana White.
A spokesperson for Manatee County Schools says a student told an assistant principal she was wearing a breast cancer awareness shirt Tuesday when the phys ed coach asked what it said, and then swiped his hand on her chest.
Another student said she was there too.
School administrators spent the remainder of the day taking statements from the students and from the gym teacher facing the accusations.
"We're looking at the allegations of the abuse first," said Deputy Chief Warren Merriman with the Bradenton Police Department. "Second, we're looking at when we were notified to make sure there wasn't a time lapse."
Police say that's not where their investigation will end.
"We also are interviewing all students that he may have hand contact with to ensure that no one else was victimized," Merriman said.
In the meantime, parents are left waiting for those answers.
"I'm not going to put that he did it, but if he hadn't of done it, they should punish him, " said Angelo Vegas, a parent. "I don't know the situation so once it feels out, you'll just have to wait and see."
The gym teacher has not yet been identified.
He has been reassigned to a non-teaching job during the investigation.
