Travolta Responds To Oscars Name Flub

Posted: Updated:

(FOX 11/ CNS) - Actor John Travolta, who found himself the subject of ridicule after butchering singer Idina Menzel's name while introducing her at the Academy Awards, said today he was "beating myself up" about his flub.

During Sunday's ceremony at the Dolby Theatre, Travolta was delivering a glowing introduction of the singer, who was about to sing the eventual Oscar winner for original song, "Let It Go" from the animated film "Frozen." But when he got to her name, he stumbled over the pronunciation, and called her something more akin to "Adela Dazeem.""I've been beating myself up all day," Travolta, 60, said today.

"Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, `Let it go, let it go!' Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy `Frozen' took home two Oscars Sunday night.""Frozen" also won the Oscar for best animated film.

Travolta's flub quickly became fodder for comedians and late-night talk show hosts. Multiple parody Twitter accounts have also been established using various spellings of "Adela Dazeem."
