A judge in Manatee County has ordered the animal shelter not to euthanize two dogs.
In December of 2012, investigators say the Australian shepherds named "Buck" and "Bill" escaped from their home and bit a 13-year-old boy three times.
Karen Erskine, the owner, says the dogs have never acted aggressive before and the boy must have done something to provoke them.
The dogs were supposed to be put down on Friday because of the attack, but their owner filed a last minute appeal for their freedom.
"I just want my dogs back and that is my right under this law," said Erskine. "Other people have gotten their dogs back for committing more offenses. They have not been fined as severely as I have or penalized this way. This has ripped my life apart."
The judge agreed to give the dogs a five-day reprieve while he reviews the new motion.
