NJ Residents Growing Winter Weary

Posted: Updated:

Not too many people in Maple Shade New Jersey are welcoming the winter anymore.

"Hasta la vista baby! It's enough. I've had enough of this," declares Beth Grossman of Martlon NJ.

Another round of snow is coming again next week.  This snow system will be the 15th snow storm this year.

Beth Grossman was grateful to see some snow mounds melt over the last week.

"I finally saw my lawn for the first time this whole winter. And I now I won't be able to see my lawn. It's bad," said Grossman.

Township leaders are growing winter weary after the 60 inches of snow they have dealt with and now the salt supplies are running extremely low in municipalities like Maple Shade.

"We are in a [dire situation]. What you have is what you have," explains, Superintendent Maple Shade Public Works, Jim Christy.

Jim Christy explains there's only about 50 tons of salt left, which means the crews are forced to do the bare minimum for the Monday snow.

"We'll be able to take care of the necessities. The main drag, hills, fire, police and rescue," continues Christy.

The roads department is having even more troubles trying to order the salt. The department is waiting on a 200 ton backorder of salt.

"I hope I only have one more storm and if we get through this storm and don't have anything else come out way we'll be ok," wishes Christy.

All while the drivers await the road work aftermath of what seems like an endless winter.

"The roads are still so bad. I don't know how we are going to get through the rest of winter," said Grossman
