A 60-year-old teacher has been charged with child abuse after allegedly scratching a child with her nails.
The incident happened Tuesday at Calusa Elementary School in New Port Richey, according to an affidavit.
Deputies say Cynthia Haring grabbed a 10-year-old student by his arm and dragged to a spot in a classroom. She was apparently upset over continuous misbehavior.
Deputies say when she grabbed the child by the arm, it left a 2-inch scratch. Three students reported it to the principal. When deputies tried to interview Haring, she refused, saying she wanted to speak with an attorney.
She was arrested and booked in the Land O'Lakes jail. She is charged with child abuse.
