Wednesday night's Demi Lovato concert at the Forum is more than just entertainment to Kayla Kiminas. In a way, it's therapy.
"I love her because I went through some of the same things she's gone through," Kiminas said.
Lovato went into rehab in 2010, later admitting she struggled with drug use, eating disorders even self-injury. Her ability to come out it is a source of inspiration to Kiminas.
"I self-harm sometimes and I got her heart tattoo to remind me that I'm strong and I can get through it," she said. "She reminds girls they're perfect the way they are."
That type of positive message seems to resonate with all of her fans.
"I love her music. She's a really good singer. She's an inspiration to a lot of girls," said Stephanie St. George.
"Most of her songs are telling girls to be confident in yourself, and you have a purpose in life," said Breana Watkins.
Demi's also made a name for herself outside of singing. She's written a book and appeared on FOX's Glee. She was also a judge on X-Factor alongside Simon Cowell.
"The way she presents herself, the way she looks on camera, the way she talks to the crowd, she's awesome," Elsa St. George said.
Wednesday night, she brought that energy to the Tampa Bay area, bringing crowds to their feet and, in some cases, tears to their eyes.
"I didn't wear make up today because I wore makeup last night, and I was sobbing. She was a very inspirational person to me," Kiminas said.
