A Tampa Bay area man will face a judge Wednesday after deputies say he admitted to killing his mother.
Matthew Edward Lohoski has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Deborah Susan Lohoski.
Detectives say the 33-year-old told them he killed Deborah and left her body in the back yard of their residence. They say she died from upper body trauma but did not release any other details about her death.
The man's 7-year-old daughter was at the home at the time of the incident, but we're told she was inside a bedroom. It's unknown if she saw or heard anything.
"At the time of the slaying, the suspect's 7-year-old daughter was in the house. We have reason to believe he put her in a bedroom, put on a video game, turned up the sound and committed this crime," said Clearwater police spokesperson Rob Shaw.
Detectives say after Lohoski killed his mother, he drove his daughter to a friend's house and dropped her off.
Deputies say he later turned himself in to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.
