DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

When it goes on sale in the second half of this year the 2015 Ford Focus will be sporting a fresh face and more fuel efficiency.

The popular compact will be available with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine for the first time in the United States. It's the same engine recently introduced in the Fiesta subcompact, where it delivers 123 horsepower and up to 45 mpg on the highway.

The 2015 Focus will be revealed Monday at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4.

Offered only with a six-speed manual transmission, the tiny turbocharged engine promises to be the fuel economy leader of the Focus lineup, as well, which will also include an updated version of the current 2.0-liter four-cylinder. Official EPA efficiency ratings for the new cars have not yet been revealed.

Along with the new powertrain choice, the '15 Focus has a new headlight and chrome bar grille design similar to that also seen on the latest Fiesta and Fusion.

Newly available driver-assist features include a blind spot monitor, active lane-keeping assist system and standard backup camera. A hands-free parallel parking system is also available in the U.S., while European cars can also steer themselves into and out of perpendicular spaces and can be fitted with collision avoidance tech.

Pricing for the new Focus has not been announced but the 2014 Focus begins at $16,810 in the United States, according to Ford's Web site. The new Focus is scheduled to hit showrooms in five-door and sedan versions.
