Police arrested a man accused of dumping hot sauce on a puppy because it wouldn't stop yelping.
At least that's what Kelly Ripley said her boyfriend, Ephrian Myles, did Sunday around 1:20am.
The three-month-old dachshund/chihuahua mix named Gizmo has a history of seizures, according to police.
Officers Jessica Sullivan and Adam Arena met Ripley at a fire station near her apartment after she called police.
Gizmo was covered in hot sauce.
"It couldn't open its eyes," Officer Sullivan explained. "One eyes was completely swollen shut and the other was barely open."
Hot sauce was also in its mouth and covering its fur.
"I picked it up, looked at it, brought it to my face, and I could smell the pepper and the vinegar. I looked at [Officer Arena] and was like, this dog has hot sauce on it," Sullivan said.
Ripley said Myles was annoyed with the puppy because it was yelping while having a seizure.
Officer Arena confronted Myles to question him about the hot sauce, but Myles denied any knowledge and claimed he had nothing to do with it.
Myles was arrested, booked into jail and charged with a felony count of animal cruelty.
Gizmo was taken to animal services and will be just fine.
Ripley told police she does not want Gizmo back because she doesn't think she can take care of it.
