Rays relief pitcher Joel Peralta already makes a bold statement this Spring Training.
"I think if we perform the way we should, I think we're going to be the best bullpen in the league," he said. "Well, we've been to me you know... (among) the top three bullpens in the league last couple years so with the names that we got we should be better than last year's (bullpen)."
The Rays do have a good problem: finding the right spots for so many quality arms.
Joe Maddon preaches "trusting the process."
He believes the answers will come to him over the course of the next month. Maddon reiterates Grant Balfour will be the Rays' closer and he plans to work in another pitcher with closer experience, Heath Bell, late in games against specific hitters.
The Rays play their first Grapefruit League game Friday, February 28th, hosting the Orioles at Port Charlotte.
