The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is warning parents of some recent alarming arrests.
Detectives on Wednesday pointed to two specific cases of child pornography in the county – one that involved a middle school student.
In one case, deputies say a 13-year-old girl was sending pornographic pictures of herself to her 14-year old boyfriend via the popular app "Kik."
When the girl stopped sending the pictures, detectives say the suspect became angry. Detectives say he then posted the images she had previously sent on his public Facebook page, and tagged her in the images.
The boy is now facing felony child pornography charges for dispersing the images.
"This kid was being vindictive. He was trying to ruin this little girl's life. And the sad part is, once those photos go up on the website, on the Facebook page, they're there for eternity," Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said Wednesday.
In another case, detectives say Daniel Colarusso had pornographic images of a 4-year-old girl he was babysitting. The pictures weren't discovered until after he was done looking after the child.
The sheriff's office said a woman renting a room to Colarusso discovered them after he moved out.
Jami Hastings found an old SD card in one of Colarusso's old drawers and decided to use it in her new smartphone.
"Popped it open, slid the memory card in right there. Closed it. Opened by phone back up and it was all the thumbnails of the pictures that were on the memory card," Hastings said.
Hastings says she was horrified when she found pornographic pictures and videos involving the child.
"I got sick. I had to run to the bathroom. I actually puked. It just broke my heart because I'm a mom," she said.
The victim's mother had no idea of what was happening while she was at work. She says she hired Colarusso as a babysitter after finding him on the website CraigsList.
Colarusso was arrested in Sarasota County and is in the process of being extradited to Pasco County to face felony child porn charges.
