USF student killed in crash

A 19-year-old nursing student died in a crash Saturday afternoon on I-75south of State Road 60.

Emaleigh Rivell of Jacksonville is the 5th University of South Floridastudent to die in a crash this past week.

Rivell's car went into the median around 1 p.m. before slamming into a guardrail and flipping over.

John Harper, 21, of Orlando suffered minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

USF students were shocked to hear that another one of their classmates has diedbehind the wheel.

"It's hard on us," Anthony Ortiz, a USF freshman said. "Althoughwe may not know these people, at USF we're family. The student body isconnected. To lose classmates, it's really sad especially for those that areknew them."

The crash is still under investigation.

This comes after four USF fraternity members were killed on I-275 in awrong-way crash. The driver of the other vehicle also died in the fiery wreck.
