FLORENCE, Ariz. -

An inmate is back in custody after authorities say he scaled a 12 foot barbed wire topped fence and escaped for a few hours.

Tim Gaffney with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said that 40 year-old Joseph Dekenipp escaped Friday afternoon. Detention officers discovered him missing when a count of inmates was done as they returned to their cells.

Officers from surrounding agencies took part in the manhunt including the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Department of Corrections, U.S. Marshals, Florence Police and Coolidge Police.

Dekenipp was caught in Coolidge before 7:30 p.m. Friday, he was treated for the cuts he received while climbing through the razor wire. Dekenipp will then be transported back to the jail and booked on charges of escape.

He was originally in jail in January for stealing a vehicle, trafficking in stolen property, unlawful flight, theft, and driving on a suspended license.
