CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Dozens of kids at Lurie Children's Hospital were surprised with a very special delivery on Wednesday.

United Airlines pilots and flight attendants delivered limited edition teddy bears named "Rhonda Globe" to some young patients as part of the airline's Adventure Bear Program.

They also took some time to visit with each patient, to talk to them about what it's like to fly the friendly skies and find out a bit more about the special child they have the privilege to meet.

United employees and customers make charitable donations every year as part of the initiative, to help families experiencing health problems who are also struggling to pay for treatment.

The company partnered with GUND® this year, to create the special teddy bears. Rhonda serves as the program's ambassador. Hundreds of United employees will personally deliver more than 4,200 Adventure Bears to children at hospitals world-wide by mid-February.
