Human Bones Found Near Nature Center

(FOX 11 / CNS) Human bones found near Burbank's Stough Canyon Nature Center prompted an investigation and a search for other possible clues as to how they got there.  

A city worker reported finding the remains about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday between the end of the Walnut Avenue access road and the nature center, Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

It was not immediately known if the remains, which had been there "for some time,'' were those of a male or female, Ryburn said. The remains were not buried, Ryburn said.

"We're treating this as a crime scene,'' Ryburn said.

Detectives and coroner's investigators were at the nature center today, and the road leading to it was closed to accommodate them, he said.

    A man was shot to death today as he drove a pickup truck in the Pacoima area, authorities said.Officers sent to Glenoaks Boulevard and Vaughn Street on a shooting call about 5:20 a.m. found the man slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
