It all came rushing back when Tonya Myers took the stand, and heard the 911 call she made the day her boyfriend's son died.
"We were coming outside. He had a fever and he fell down coming down the steps," Myers said.
In the call, Myers tells the 911 operator the baby fell down the stairs.
But in her two hour testimony, she told the jury it was a lie and that she lied over and over cover up for the defendant.
"Yes those were lies," she said.
Dwayne Poole faces first-degree murder and the possibility of life in prison for the death of his 16-month old son, Ronderique.
Prosecutors say weeks before Poole beat his baby to death, he knocked out his teeth.
The jury saw graphic photos of injuries on the baby's stomach and legs.
Myers denied having a hand in it, but was convicted of negligence for not reporting it.
However, the defense questioned whether Myers was lying again, as she had several times to police.
The baby died in May of 2011. Poole told police the baby had a fever and accidentally fell down the stairs.
The defense calls it a tragic accident; the prosecution calls it murder.
