Graco car safety seats recalled

Graco, which makes products for babies and children, is recalling almost 3.8 million car safety seats because kids may get stuck when buckles fail to unlatch.

The company says the problem can happen if the buckles become dirty with dried food and beverages.

Graco says if you have these models, you should trying cleaning the buckle. If that doesn't fix the problem you can contact the company for replacement buckles. Call the company's hotline at 800-345-4109 or emailing consumerservices@gracobaby.com.

Here are cleaning tips from the company:

  • Turn the restraint over and push the retainer through the harness strap slot. Place the buckle in a cup of warm water and gently agitate the buckle, pressing the red button several times while it is in the water.
  • Do not submerge the harness webbing and do not use soaps or lubricants, only rinse the harness buckle with warm water.
  • Shake out the excess water and allow the harness buckle to air dry.
  • Reattach the harness buckle into the same slot and re-check harness for correct installation according to the car seat manual before use.

The recall affects car seats sold between 2009 and 2013. These are the models:

    Two deputy U.S. marshals, an NYPD detective, and a sexual assault suspect have been shot in a shootout in the West Village in Manhattan, officials said. The shootout happened near West 4th Street and Jones Street. Speaking at a news conference, Mayor Bill de Blasio said the marshals and cop were taken to a local hospital with apparently non-life threatening injuries.

    An ex-convict suspected of gunning down a Nassau County police officer and then fatally shooting a carjacking victim was found guilty on all counts in the murders on Monday. Darrell Fuller, 33, shot and killed Police Officer Arthur Lopez in October 2012 who suspected he had been involved in a hit-and-run car accident. Authorities said Fuller then fled that shooting and killed the second victim, Raymond Facey of Queens, while stealing his vehicle.
