Flying to the West Coast is about to get a lot easier.
Tampa International Airport just unveiled a new direct flight to Seattle, starting in June. Alaskan Airlines is partnering with TIA to offer the nonstop flight on their 737 aircraft.
Leaders at the airport say this will fill the gap in service to the West Coast, and put Tampa on the map for more business opportunities.
"For us to attract the kinds of high-tech companies we want to attract, we have to be competitive. We have to have the service to bring them here," Tampa International Airport CEO Joe Lopano said Tuesday morning.
The first direct flight from Tampa to Seattle will take off on June 20.
