A Bob Evans restaurant is scheduled for demolition today after workersdiscovered sinkhole activity in June.
Salvage companies arrived for work on Tampa Gateway Boulevard in Seffner onTuesday.
Restaurant employees spotted large cracks in the building, prompting thecompany to shut down operations there last summer.
Since then, a spokesperson released a statement saying, "it wasdetermined that loose soil related to a sinkhole had caused the building tosettle."
The company took steps to stabilize the ground and reports "both BobEvans and the Hillsborough County Code Enforcement team have confirmed the siteis safe and approved for reconstruction."
Reconstruction is slated to begin in early May. The new restaurant isexpected to open this fall.
