A Bob Evans restaurant is scheduled for demolition today after workers discovered sinkhole activity in June.
Salvage companies arrived for work on Tampa Gateway Boulevard in Seffner on Tuesday.
Restaurant employees spotted large cracks in the building, prompting the company to shut down operations there last summer.
Since then, a spokesperson released a statement saying, "it was determined that loose soil related to a sinkhole had caused the building to settle."
The company took steps to stabilize the ground and reports "both Bob Evans and the Hillsborough County Code Enforcement team have confirmed the site is safe and approved for reconstruction."
Reconstruction is slated to begin in early May. The new restaurant is expected to open this fall.
