CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning businesses about armed robbers targeting pizza delivery drivers in the Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood.

In two recent robberies, one or two suspects confronted delivery drivers between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., and robbed them as they walked to or from delivery locations, Area North detectives said in an alert.

The first robbery happened at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 31 in the 2800 block of West Wellington Avenue, the alert said. A second happened at 8:10 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of North Fairfield Avenue.

The suspects are described as Hispanic men between 20 and 30, between 5-foot-4 and 6-foot-3, the alert said.

Businesses should have employees park in well-lit areas and call police to report suspicious people loitering in the area, the alert said.

Anyone with any information should call detectives at (312) 744-8263.
