Mike Jerrick Impersonates Ed Sullivan For Beatles' Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

50 Years ago The Beatles landed at JFK and was greeted by thousand screaming girls.  The infamous group was taken to Ed Sullivan theatre on Broadway. Ed Sullivan then introduced the Beatles. Unfortunately, we could not show the footage (much to Mike Jerrick's dismay). So we had to get a little creative.

Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the day The Beatles appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" and changed music forever.

When The Beatles made their U.S. debut on the Ed Sullivan show 50 years ago, it set the Fab Four on course to become one of the greatest bands in history. Drummer Ringo Starr remembers it well.

"It made such an impact when we landed all across America, but when we did the Sullivan show 70 million people watched it," Starr said.

"We came off stage saying, ‘It's incredible, this catalogue of songs. How did they do this?' Everyone was extraordinary, really extraordinary in every way and I'm not just saying that," said Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics.

The Beatles have sold more than 177 million albums and still hold the record for the most number one hits. They also influenced generations of musicians and changed the culture of American music.

"When I moved to Nashville...every time I got with somebody to co-write, they would always reference the Beatles," said Country singer and "American Idol Judge Keith Urban.

"I think they changed it forever. I think they were the first one to ever expand it beyond little commercials ," said Brad Paisley, a country singer.

"They celebrate so much of what's great about classic songwriting and they cover so many different styles. I don't think there is a band as eclectic as that that's ever been before or after. So their influence and how many people are falling in love with them in every generation is timeless," said Bonnie Raitt.

Video games may be pure fantasy, but a violent action-adventure game called "Watch Dogs" has ignited a very real debate in one South Jersey community. Watch Dog allows players to adopt the persona of a James Bond-like computer hacker, chasing an evil mastermind. People say it's chock-full of foul language, sex and violence, features dark and foreboding backdrops. The latest version, which is due out this fall may be set in Camden.
