Two officers have been placed on administrative leave at the Lakeland Police Department.
One of the officers is Detective Steve Strickland. He works in the economic crimes section of the police department. He's worked there for the past 14 years, and he is now the focus of a criminal investigation.
The other officer on administrative leave is Sgt. Pat Guity. He is Strickland's supervisor. According to the department, Guity is not part of the criminal investigation.
The department has been plagued by scandals recently. Several officers and civilian employees have quit or were fired following a sex scandal.
Outgoing Chief Lisa Womack was recently suspended amid allegations that she did not follow procedure on a job application for her nephew.
