The Tampa Police Department is investigating a shooting that has left one person with life-threatening injuries, a spokesperson said in a media release.

It happened at the 5200 block of East Broadway Avenue.

Police say they found a man at the scene who was the shooter.

Witnesses told police an altercation ended up at the Broadway address.

"The shooter asked the person who was shot several times to leave him alone. That did not occur, he shot him. WHen we arrived the shooter was at the scene...he waited for police," said TPD spokesperson Andrea Davis.

Davis said it wasn't clear yet whether charges would be filed. Police are still investigating what exactly led up to the shooting.
