Author Keri White Shares Parenting Advice: How To Cure Cabin Fever

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Yesterday was another rough winter day for the Delaware Valley, and it's not over yet.

If your kids are older, they'll find things to do at home. However, what if your kids are little? They need constant attention, and staying home with them for hours might quickly run through your activity list. Do you ever run out of ideas as to how to keep your kids' school off days filled with learning and fun? There are some really great ideas in a new book called The Mommy Code. The author tackles everything from play dates to babysitters to social media to curing, and of course, how to deal with cabin fever.

The author of the book, Keri White, got a chance to come talk to Good Day today.

"Tie a book to an activity," White advises.

For example, if you read "The Princess and The Pizza," make pizza with the kids after reading the book, or order pizza.

Also, take your kids outside to shovel. That gets everyone moving. Of course, be careful.

Here's the recipe for how to make the snow ice cream that White had on Good Day:

For one serving:

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream or half and half
  • 3 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 sandwich sized ziploc bag
  • 1 gallon sized ziploc bag
  • 4 cups ice cubes
  • 2 fistfuls of salt
  1. in small bag, mix cream, sugar and vanilla. SEAL WELL.
  2. in large bag, mix ice and salt.
  3. Place small bag in large bag, seal large bag, and shake it up until mixture becomes ice cream, about 5 minutes.
