Thick fog forced some drivers to slow down on Tampa Bay roadways Tuesday.
Fog was blanketing Interstate 75, causing some drivers to reduce their speeds and turn on low beam lights. In some cases, visibility was reduced to a few feet.
"Could probably only see maybe 5 to 10 feet in front of you," said Traveler Edward Baughman, who was visiting Florida from Georgia. "I had to slow down from maybe 55 mph to maybe 30 mph. Then we just kept it under 40 mph."
The Florida Highway Patrol urges drivers to use caution when traveling in foggy conditions.
Officials say watch out for slow-moving and parked vehicles. Open your window a little and listen for traffic you cannot see. Avoid passing and or changing lanes as well Signal turns well in advance and brake early as you approach a stop.
