TALLAHASSEE (FOX 13) -

Florida's next Lieutenant Governor will be sworn into office today.

Miami-Dade Property Appraiser Carlos Lopez-Cantera will be sworn in at 5 this evening.

Lopez-Cantera is the first Hispanic to hold the post. He'll also serve as Gov. Scott's running mate in the November election.

Lopez-Cantera replaces former Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carrol. She resigned nearly two years ago, during an investigation into a widespread gambling ring.

Carroll has never been charged in connection with that investigation.
