Weather conditions in Atlanta prompted some drivers to delay trips home. Greg Miller is returning to northern Indiana after a visit to Cape Coral.
His drive passes through Atlanta, a city battling snow, ice and heavy travel delays this week.
"We were actually going to leave yesterday, and we waited a day after we saw that," Miller said. "We were almost going to wait until tomorrow but thought we'd give it a try today."
Miller is one of many using I-75 to get home. Others include Jerah Johnson, who is traveling with her fiancé to Atlanta.
"My aunt actually was in Atlanta, and she has been calling and telling me about everything
going on," Johnson said at a rest stop in Pasco County. "The fact is my fiancé is a truck driver and we have to get there."
Darlene Coster and her mother are headed back to Tennessee after attending a funeral
in Florida. The pair has been keeping up with Atlanta weather via the news.
"It's very devastating. If we have to take another route, we will do so," said Coster." The roads are kind of bad, but as we get closer, we're going to see if we have to get a hotel or something. Hopefully it will be clearing up."
Betty Jo Edens, who is 82 years old, agreed.
"We're leery about the situation, but I think we'll make it all right," said Coster's mother. "We're pretty careful drivers."
