'Hero' deputy saved man from burning home

BROOKSVILLE (FOX 13) -

A Hernando County deputy is being praised for running into a burning home and making an incrediblerescue.

Authorities say Deputy James Devorak is ahero. He was the first person on scene at a fire inBrooksville earlier this week.

While the home was still engulfed inflames, deputy Devorak rushed in without any protective gear and found a man onthe floor.

He pulled him out, saving his life,investigators said.

"We receive a lot of training here atthe office, and some of that training teaches us to react quickly,"Devorak said. "You don't even think; it's just all reaction. And that'sjust what you do."

The victim was taken to the hospital withburns and smoke inhalation. Officers say the fire was intentionally set.
