A Hernando County deputy is being praised for running into a burning home and making an incredible rescue.
Authorities say Deputy James Devorak is a hero. He was the first person on scene at a fire in Brooksville earlier this week.
While the home was still engulfed in flames, deputy Devorak rushed in without any protective gear and found a man on the floor.
He pulled him out, saving his life, investigators said.
"We receive a lot of training here at the office, and some of that training teaches us to react quickly," Devorak said. "You don't even think; it's just all reaction. And that's just what you do."
The victim was taken to the hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. Officers say the fire was intentionally set.
