Will a jury ever get hear the taped confession of an accused killer?
Hillsborough Sheriff's investigators say Edward Covington admitted to murdering a mother and her two children.
But now his attorney wants those statements tossed out. They say early on, Covington was not read his Miranda rights and was not given access to an attorney.
But during the two-day hearing, detectives say when they arrived at the crime scene, they found three dismembered bodies.
They also discovered Covington hiding in a closet, initially detectives did not know if he was a victim or a suspect in the case.
Covington was taken to the hospital after admitting to swallowing several pills. Detectives say he was never questioned there.
He was read his rights once he was released from the hospital.
Covington eventually confessed to the murders.
The hearing will continue tomorrow.
