Tire pop causes explosion scare in Manhattan

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Police and firefighters responding to reports of an explosion on Lexington Ave. and E. 26th Street in Manhattan say the tire on a hand truck popped, causing a panic.

Calls to police described an explosion Monday afternoon, but there was no explosion, said police.

SkyFoxHD was over the scene at about 1: 15 p.m. where there was a heavy police and firefighter presence inside the lobby of an apartment building on Lexington Ave. in Gramercy Park.

The tire popped inside the building.

Police closed Lexington Ave. between E 23rd St and E. 29th St. to vehicular traffic.

There were no reports of injuries.
