Winter Haven man arrested for beer-can beating, knife rampage

WINTER HAVEN (FOX 13) -

A Winter Haven man is behind bars, facing a long list of charges afterallegedly attacking his former girlfriend, her adult children and her elderlymother.

Police say the attack happened around 11 Saturday night at a home in the northeastarea of Winter Haven.

Investigators say a neighbor heard screaming and called 911, and whenofficers arrived, they found Anthony B. Hall in his ex-girlfriend's home armedwith a large kitchen knife.

Police say Hall broke into the home while the victim and her adult son weresleeping, attacking the 46-year-old woman in her bed and beating her face witha beer can.

Investigators say the victim's 23-year-old son woke up to his motherscreaming for help and tried to save her.

Police say Hall punched the boy repeatedly, smashing his fist into his faceand torso.

The victim's 70-year-old mother, 24-year-old daughter and 25-year-old son,who live next door, heard the disturbance and came to help.

Police say Hall attacked the elderly mother and assaulted her granddaughterwhen she stepped in to help.

Investigators say the family pushed Hall out of the front door, and he felland hit his head on a porch rail. Police say Hall then grabbed a kitchen knifeand threatened to kill them.

The family ran for their lives, hiding in locked bedrooms and bathrooms.

Investigators say Hall then went on a rampage and punched holes in thebathroom door, where the elderly woman was hiding.

Police arrested Hall and charged him with several charges. Investigators saynone of the victims were badly hurt.
