Couple Writes Note To Keep Kids From Interrupting Morning Sleep

Posted: Updated:

Sleep is important to all parents. That's why one couple used preventive measures to make sure they got some shuteye. The parents penned a letter to their children, aged eight and 10, after the children fell asleep the night before.

"Mom + DAD are sleeping in this morning!" it starts. "DO NOT knock and wake us up before 10 AM [squiggly lines under this word] unless there is a real [which is drawn with a fire around it] EMERGENCY [word in red]!! :D "

The parents even anticipated their children's questions and answered all of them in the note:

To answer your questions:

  • You can have cereal for breakfast.
  • Yes, you can watch tv/play wii.
  • No, you may not go to your friend's house.
  • No, you cannot have a baggie of snacks from the pantry, those are for lunches (yes, I mean those ones.)
  • You can have an orange for a snack. This means one(1) each. ;)

The last part of the note covers all the bases saying:

Alexia - don't antagonize your brother

Liam - don't be a whiner …. or at least not a loud one.

The letter ends with "We love you." Love is in red and in bubble letters.

The note was successful, the couple tells Reddit Funny. They apparently woke up with the sun at 10:06 a.m. that morning that they left the note.

Some users on Reddit made light of the success of the letter. "It's funny because your children are 30 and 37," quips antani2.
