School zones in Florida could also become quiet zones.

A state lawmaker wants to make it illegal for drivers to talk on their cell phones in school zones.

District 91 Representative Irv Slosberg filed the bill last week. It would make chatting while driving in a school zone a primary offense, meaning officers could pull you over for it.

Slosberg claims more than 100 children are killed each year in the U.S. walking to and from school. However, it is not known how many of them involved drivers using cell phones.
