Hoboken Mayor says Christie aides tried to shake her down

Well if ‘Bridge-gate’ wasn't enough, there are even more eyebrow raising allegations against New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's administration...

Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer claims that last year, aides to the Governor tied Superstorm Sandy recovery funds to her support for a development project.

This comes on the heels of the scandal involving those traffic tie-ups in Fort Lee.

Who could forget this line from Governor Christie's mea-culpa news conference on Bridgegate where he said “I'm not a bully.”

Well according to the Mayor of Hoboken, it appears he is.

Democratic Mayor Dawn Zimmer is now claiming that Hoboken would only receive critical Sandy relief funds if she expedited a redevelopment project in north Hoboken.

Zimmer believes Christie was behind the shakedown that allegedly occurred in May of 2013, even though she never directly spoke to Christie about it.

However, a spokesperson of Chris Christie pointed out that in August 2013 after the alleged conversation, Mayor Zimmer praised Christie publicly several times on Twitter.

One Tweet read:

“To be very clear, I am very glad Governor Christie has been our governor.”

Zimmer said Hoboken, which was seriously flooded by the 2012 super storm, requested $127 million in Sandy funds, and received only a total of $342,000.
