APS policy includes wording about 'gender identity'

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Atlanta Public Schools says it will not discriminate against anyone's gender identity.

The new policy of APS includes wording stating that no discrimination is allowed based on color, race, religion, sexual orientation and gender identity or expression.

The district says the change was made to keep up with the times and that it's meant to ban discrimination.

The school board is asking parents to send them their opinions. They will review the policy and parent input and reconvene on the issue on Feb. 3.
